Alisha Bennett

Alisha Bennett, LCSW, is the founder and director of Integrative Therapy NYC. Born in Daegu, South Korea, in 1984, she was adopted at three months old by an American family in Michigan through Holt International. Growing up in a predominantly white, religious community, Alisha experienced racism and “othering” that shaped her relationship with her Korean identity into adulthood.

In 2017, she returned to Korea and met her birth mother, an experience that brought both joy and grief that was long unacknowledged. Since then, Alisha has worked to reclaim her Korean identity, a journey that has deeply influenced her work as a therapist and social worker. She currently is an active member of the Korean adoptee community and lives with her husband and their daughter, who she hopes will always feel deeply loved.

Special thanks to the Thomas and Wonsook Foundation for their generous support in making this project possible.
