The Queer Joy Series is a special initiative within Korean American Story dedicated to centering the voices of queer and trans Korean Americans. Rooted in our mission to document and preserve the fullness of our community’s experiences, this series creates intentional space for stories that have too often been overlooked or marginalized.
Through reflection, dialogue, and shared testimony, Queer Joy explores what it means to live authentically at the intersection of Korean American and LGBTQIA+ identities. By uplifting these narratives, we aim to foster understanding, challenge stigma, and celebrate the resilience, complexity, and joy that exist within our community.
Across two seasons, the series moves from personal reflection to shared dialogue. The first season centers individual stories told in the intimate Legacy Project format, while the second invites families and community members into conversation—revealing how queer joy is discovered, challenged, and nurtured together.
