Theresa Choh-Lee

Born in Seoul, Korea, Theresa Choh immigrated to Ohio with her family in 1972. In her senior year of college while interviewing for jobs she went to New York City, where she met her now husband, HJ Lee. Their lives continued to grow together until the 2008 financial crisis, when both HJ and Theresa lost their jobs. Amidst searching for other jobs, HJ came to her one day with the idea of creating a non-profit which would become Korean American Story; though Theresa was initially hesitant, both set out to put the project into place. Now in its 13th year, the organization has only continued to flourish in not only celebrating the Korean American community of the past and present, but in empowering future generations to engage with their cultural heritage.
